Killian Barton

Research Scientist

Killian Barton holds a BSc in Science with Nanotechnology (Hon 1.1) specializing in chemistry obtained from Dublin Institute of Technology. While studying for his degree, Killian completed a six month internship in the University of Houston working on surface modification and engineering. Killian’s work during this period contributed to a patent submission for an invention developed for solar energy cells. For his final year project, Killian worked with CREST to develop a sealing technology for anodised aluminium. The results have since been presented at an international conference and submitted for publication in a leading surface technology journal.

Killian is currently studying for a PhD with the CREST group on the characterization and development of a rubber to metal adhesive in conjunction with Henkel. The work is aimed at aiding the development of a rapid adhesive system for a widely applicable industrial fabrication process which will replace the current multi step standard.
